A Brilliant Plan

Carter hatches a plan

As I enter the front door, I hear Carter leaving through the back door. I glance out the window, a mommy fondly watching her youngster frolic in the back yard to see him hoarding a container of sugar sprinkles, leftover from Christmas cookies. I stick my head out the back door.

Carter: Mommy, there are things out here I don’t want you to see.

Amy: I already saw the sprinkles. It is fine to play with them, but they will aggravate your tummy ache and make it worse if you eat them.

Carter: Okay.

I go back inside, and he follows.

Carter: Mommy, I have a secret and brilliant plan, a brilliant secret plan and clever tricks. That’s all I’m going to say. Now. You close and lock the window, then close the back door after I go out back and lock it too.

There are things he doesn’t want me to see.
