Alpha Mom Isabel Kallman – The Martha Stewart of Parenting

Ummmmm

I guess it is helpful to believe that it takes a village to raise a child when you can afford to buy one of your own villages.

The sad thing for me is, there are elements here that illustrate what I want for children- offices for caregivers that make allowances for entire families- support for parenting- motherhood options that allow for attachment and mothers following their dreams- but they are enveloped in exactly what I believe causes “the mess.”

How is it possible to grasp the concept that what children need is to be close and attached and still “weep” upon being denied admission to a preschool for 2-year olds? What type of thinking would lead someone to believe that as parents, we are striving to raise “overachievers?” Over. Achievers. Over. As in too much.

My favorite quote though: “The more she learned, the more she was told to stay close– and the more people she hired who could do that for her.”

My eyes are all crossed.
