Wootius Hootius!

An academic woo-hoo came in the form of:

“We are pleased to inform you that your paper, titled ‘PoliticWiki: Exploring Communal Politics’ has been accepted as a RESEARCH PAPER for publication in the Proceedings of WikiSym 2006.”

After a long few days of work and disappointments, this news was a welcome lift. WikiSym 2006 is a new conference focusing on wiki web sites and new uses for this medium. Fewer than half of all submissions were accepted. While this isn’t a CHI-caliber competition for proceedings space, I’m very happy to have my paper published here.

The conference will be held in Odense August 21-23, 2006 … literally day(s) after my 20th high school reunion in northern Illinois. I’ve never been further foreign than Toronto (’91 All-Star Game) and across the Mexican border near Brownsville (three hours of fish-out-of-water tackiness). I have never had a passport.
