Do you read French? Care to help me with a translation problem? Google sure didn’t, although the results are somewhat funny.
Makice is a made up name. Amy and I scrambled our initials — A E C K M I — and picked the one that made the most sense to us. When egosurfing, it is sort of nice to know that whatever you find is going to be relevant, like a personal corner of the Internet.
Or at least, it used to be that way. Turns out, makice is Serbian for “little.” Ironic (see ). So now there are several forums, like the Serbian Cafe, cutting into our territory. Add to that the heavy metal and gaming forums where my name is a common misspelling of “malice.” And, there are some people using our very unique last name as a user handle, such as this person and this person. The latter one may be the same French cook/mother responsible for this blog.
I’d like to contact the username squatters to ask why they chose it. Maybe makice has other meanings.
So, … Vous parlez français?

Makice has been my nickname on the internet for ages now (over 7 years I guess).
It is a phonetic contraction of : ‘Mais, qui c’est’ (but who is this ?).
Funny to see you came up to the same name by scrambling your initials.
Excellent. Interesting. Thanks for the explanation.
Strange, too, that the timing matches so well. We “officially” changed our name in December 1999, but the name was selected in 1998 (it took a while to get used to). Perhaps it was karma telling us to try one of your recipes.
