Thanks to Evil Spock, who in turn thanks someone else, I found a little site with things to put on a blog, aptly named BlogThings. A Blogthing is “a quiz, meme, or toy you can put in your blog or journal.”
The list of existing blogthings is pretty extensive and includes:
- What kind of rocker are you?
- Are you a good driver?
- How is your vocabulary?
- Should you vote Republican or Democrat?
- What 2004 Hit Song are you?
- What planet should you rule?
- What mythological creature are you?
- What superhero are you?
- Could you pass 8th grade history or math?
- What is your religious philosophy?
- What age will you die?
- Outrageous Name Generator
But the one that captured my attention, inspired by Josh, was this one:
Where Does Your Inner Californian Belong?
You Belong in Sacramento |
You’re a little too down to earth to be considered a true Californian… But you still too weird to fit in anywhere else! With it’s diversity and cultural opportunities, Sacramento is just enough California for you. |
That’s someplace in the middle, right? Do they still pan for gold there?
Of course, the algorithm behind it all seems to really rely on the answer to a single question. You select David Bowie among your music likes, and suddenly you are a Glam Rocker. Or, in the above case, I thought being Governor would be a better career than Movie Star, and I wind up in the state capital. I would suggest Blogthings needs a Ph.D. researcher to make these things more interesting, but that would make me a bigger nerd.
Sincerely, Batman … 8th-grade proficient and the future ruler of Saturn, until my death at age 73.
