In honor of Evil Spock’s one-year anniversary, I went with a Star Trek theme while testing out Fuzzwich‘s mini-vid movie site.
The short little movie pits two characters, Captain Kirk and Abraham Lincoln, in a Chris Farley moment about their original series episode together in 1969. I threw in the Buckaroo Bonzai soundtrack as well.
The Fuzzwich Mini-Vid recorder allows for simple edits using canned objects.
The mini-vids are intended to be conversational messages for social networks. The little movie editor has 42 characters, 15 songs, and 14 backdrops which can be swapped out and animated in real-time as the short video is being recorded. Dialogue bubbles can be added to the sprites for a few character exchanges. There are plans to allow photos to be uploaded and some other user customization done with the images.
Fuzzwich is a YCombinator company. That program is a sort of startup contest where small teams are selected based on their business ideas to be funded up to $10,000. You have to spend a few months in either Boston (summer) or California (winter) receiving on-site mentoring. Past graduates of the program include reddit, Scribd, Snipshot and Justin.tv.
Happy birthday, The Needs of the Few.
