About a month after releasing the MyColts.com social network into the wild, Pat Coyle announced Thursday that the high school equivalent—MyIndianaFootball.com—has been officially launched.
MyIndianaFootball.com is a new portal for local high school football programs.
This is a clean-looking, albeit content barren site focusing on high school football programs. Backed by the content at Indiana Football Digest , the portals are managed by local administrators at the high school level. Content from the Colts sites—including head coach Tony Dungy’s blog—will also be pushed into this network. This is a publication service provided by the Indianapolis Colts as a way to connect more regional people to their professional organization by driving traffic to the soon-to-be-updated main Colts.com site. By strengthening relationships with local high school football fans, future season ticket holders and merchandise consumers are being cultivated. MyIndianaFootball benefits the local programs, too, by providing a sports promotional and information tool that wouldn’t be available to them otherwise.
When all the dust has settled on the Colts web changes—which should be in time for the start of the upcoming 2007 season—Colts fans will be able to hook into the local scene, interact with each other, and get information about the team seamlessly. One login will allow navigation through all three channels. (The effort will really make the Web 2.0 big time when they manage to offer OpenID support.)
Bloomington High School North and Bloomington High School South are already previewed. The Top 15 rankings (which oddly includes 23 teams) show South at #13 and North at #20. The new season begins with noon games on August 17.
