Carter thinks on death

Carter’s comments following a weekend of family mourning

Carter: Mom, that death thing is what we read about in the book, right?

Me: Yes.

Carter: Sounds like that’s what Uncle Bruce got himself into. Sort of like putting on a pair of pants, isn’t it?

Me: How is death like putting on a pair of pants?

Carter: Sorrow. That’s what it’s like. That’s what I’m feeling.

Me: You’re feeling sorrow?

Carter: Yes, Mom, that’s another word for sad.

Thanks, I’m feeling a lot more abstract now.
