Alpha Mom Isabel Kallman – The Martha Stewart of Parenting
Ummmmm
I guess it is helpful to believe that it takes a village to raise a child when you can afford to buy one of your own villages.
The sad thing for me is, there are elements here that illustrate what I want for children- offices for caregivers that make allowances for entire families- support for parenting- motherhood options that allow for attachment and mothers following their dreams- but they are enveloped in exactly what I believe causes “the mess.”
How is it possible to grasp the concept that what children need is to be close and attached and still “weep” upon being denied admission to a preschool for 2-year olds? What type of thinking would lead someone to believe that as parents, we are striving to raise “overachievers?” Over. Achievers.
My favorite quote though: “The more she learned, the more she was told to stay close– and the more people she hired who could do that for her.”
My eyes are all crossed.
