Migration

I finally took steps to close down the old ISP account hosing makice.net, the domain our family has had since just before Carter was born. I’ve had accounts with Stans (back in Woodstock) since self-learning internet programming and doing freelance design back in the hometown, in ’96. They’ve been great, but lately we’ve been horrid customers, partly due to money shortages but also because our web site and even our email accounts have been secondary … if not completely forgotten. I’ve been meaning to consolidate web accounts for quite a while and finally found some time (read: I don’t have a better paying job yet).

Migration went OK, but I feel like I’ve been doing way too much moving of files lately. I’ve still got lots more to do, so I hope I can manage some time today to finish. The domain switched over officially in the middle of the night, but I have a number of other domains I need to point to this spot once I finish debugging. One of the downsides to customizing is the amount of “extra” that needs to be done to get everything back the way it was. As long as this post goes through, we’ll consider the blog a success.

A Ph.D student in informatics at Indiana University, Kevin is rich in spirit. He wrestles and reads with his kids, does a hilarious Christian Slater imitation and lights up his wife's days. He thinks deeply about many things, including but not limited to basketball, politics, microblogging, parenting, online communities, complex systems and design theory. He didn't, however, think up this profile.
