Rain/Pour

Two bits of bad news came today.

First, PBS is pulling its funding from me via Eli via Tom via IU. The good news is that its the end of a project that at times felt like it was going to make for a looooooong three years, and it in no way affects my ability to return to the school for my Ph.D. The bad news is that it was my only source of income for this summer, thus far, and scant as it was it will be missed. Also, it ruined the summers of a couple friends, too, who are now in the same boat I am as far as trying to salvage a season of earning.

Second, the Entertainment Computing Research Group had our first paper — a short 5-pager — rejected by SIGGRAPH as not gamey enough. Valid criticisms, but I’m sure we would have dazzled with our presentation and made it all clear. There’s still a chapter of some book to help write. And the promise of more future rejections, of course.
