Sad news from the IU football front. Several months after the problem was first detected, Indiana University football coach Terry Hoeppner will have brain surgery tomorrow (Wednesday). Unbelievably, a recurrence of a tumor may only sideline him for 2-4 weeks.
Under Coach Hep, the Hoosiers have started 2-0 for a third straight season … the first time that has happened in about 100 years. He has instilled a number of new (hopefully lasting) traditions, including retrieving a chunk of limestone from the woods that was left over from the original construction of Memorial Stadium, now called “The Rock.”

More on this from today’s IDS.
Also, from a purely game perspective, the team will also be without stud WR James Hardy for the next couple games.
A follow-up in today’s IDS says Coach is ok after surgery.
