Diagnostics for Poets

We’ve had any number of viral invaders this week. Carter captures them most eloquently. Earlier this week it was snot:

At pick-up after school

Carter: Mommy! I have a worm in my throat!

Me: It feels like there’s a worm in your throat?

Carter: No, there is a worm in my throat. I think it’s a parasite!

Me: Could it be snot?

Carter: (with righteous outrage) No!! (after a moment) Well, maybe.

Mom waiting next to me at pick up/potential friend: Bye Carter! Hope you get that parasite taken care of!

Then today, he woke up with a stomach virus.

Carter: Mommy, I feel like a goat. I feel like the goat who ate the trash can. I feel like the goat who ate the trash can that was full of trash and he ate all the trash inside it too.

Later, while on the couch,

Carter: I hate this sickness. My stomach keeps vibrating and I’m freezing and hot all at the same time.

Here’s to a speedy recovery buddy. I’m just grateful he’s not surfing the internet for self-diagnosis yet.

Aw, poor kid! I hope he’s feeling better. We’ve got some cold/cough thing going around here, so he has my ful sympathy with the throat parasite problem.
