Today Carter’s’ class went to Pedon Farms for a very fun field trip. There were enough parent volunteers that each parent just had two kids to watch- which believe me, was enough in the chaos. We started off with a hayride- here are some snippets of conversation:
Child 1: Will you look at that view? It’s like an Indiana Rainforest.
Child 2: Cows!
Child 1: POOOP! Look! There’s Poop!
Carter: Of course there’s poop. There’s cows.
Child 1: And the peacocks- they’re beautiful.
Carter: (long discourse on males vs. females in the peacock species)
Child 2: They hay is poking my butt.
Child 3: There’s poop stuck in the tractor wheel.
Carter: Oh! Cool.
Child 1: POOOOP! I want to go home!! Too much poop!
Carter and his buddy snorted at the piglets.
Carter got to pet a baby duckling, mama’s favorite.
Carter got to use a power tool to really get into the limestone.
We got to see Zoe.
And then it stormed. It really cut loose- Carter loved it. Parents and teachers scrambled to get kids in the shelter, and Carter did a rain celebration dance. I was lovely- the only downside being the kids who wanted to join him and were not permitted. One of his classmates even attempted to chase him with an umbrella to keep him dry- very funny.
And in the end, isn’t life all about getting wet, drying off, and getting wet again?

I’m so glad we’ve raised a boy thrilled with the many experiences the world can bring.
Good job on being drenched.
