We’re fortunate that in Indiana there are pretty flexible homeschool records requirements. Other states have more stringent requirements.
Regulations aside, I still want to know what we’ve done- Carter has led us on amazing learning journeys- I want to build on them, to remember that Carter wants to find out more about what alchemists were thinking, what type of chemistry Merlin might have used and a myriad of other questions.
There are lots of online forms for record keeping available. They do require printing, organizing and having a desk clear enough that one could locate them in time to jot down the information. My desk does not meet those minimum requirements. I do however, use Twitter with some regularity. I can tweet from my cell phone when we’re out and about (provided I find the charger) and swing by the computer on our way outside to light things on fire for our science experiment.
Thus, my single resolution for the new semester is to tweet about our homeschooling activities enough so that I can read the archives and know what happened. I’d love to have some fellow homeschool twitter friends- seeing short updates could provide inspiration, validation and community.
